Introduction

Dear friends in sports,

Welcome on my website.

On this website you can find information about my pigeons, results and the razes.

The past 10 years (1998/2008) I achieved 90 1st prices against an average of 1300 pigeons. Without doubles. Amongst them were 7 1st prices of the whole concours.

I came into contact with pigeons in my early years. When I was 5 years old I had my first pigeons. My father Jan, who had pigeons himself, saw pretty soon that there had to come some racing pigeons. First we bought some long distance pigeons, which we competed  under the name “Smit en Zn Comb”. These pigeons couldn't compete at the flight program, to my great irritation.

About 1991 I went to T.H. Florissen for some pigeons and that was a successful trip. The pigeons flew very fast and I won many first prices. I had a very good contact with Theo Florissen, which gave me several good advices. He was a true teacher for me. .

Also my father Jan Smit was an example for me. He won many prices and left the fellow competes far behind him. With many first prices at the championships and chain results he was really at the top at that moment.

The pigeons from Theo are the basis of Freek his loft. These pigeons ensured that he became champion for many years after each other on the following disciplines - short distance, middle distance and youngsters.

Later on the one day long distance flights became more important, so I train my pigeons for these specific flights for the last years. I find it very important that my pigeons can compete on a distance from 100 till 800 km.

On my search for better pigeons I was helped by the best pigeon fanciers. A hen from G. en S. Verkerk is a great pigeon for the one day long distance flights. Also the pigeons of G. Sluijer came along good with the pigeons I have from Theo, because almost all of these pigeons are from the champion Rudy Smits, Gerrit was the teacher of Rudy. Because I have by nature a great passion for speed pigeons, I bought some pigeons from A. van der Donck, a modest Belgium fancier with great results.

All these pigeons make my loft complete, but the search for better pigeons continues, because that is what is all about.
